Dear Friends,
"When we try to pick out anything by itself, we find it hitched to everything else in the universe." ~John Muir
We can't survive alone as an individual or a country. Isolationism rarely, if ever, works. Our interconnectedness is our strength.

Here's an amazing story of discovery and interconnectedness from Radiolab: “This week we journey up into the sky and discover Forests above the forest. We learn about the secret powers of these sky gardens from ecologist Korena Mafune, and we follow Nalini Nadkarni as she makes a ground-breaking discovery that changes how we understand what trees are capable of.”

Mr. Rogers famously advised us to “Look for the helpers” in difficult situations. I have relied on this advice countless times. During the pandemic, I wrote We’ll Hold the Light to honor brave, selfless health care workers and first responders who face unprecedented challenges and secondary trauma, including my wife Linda, an anesthesiologist at a Level 1 Trauma Center, safety net hospital. Check out our video featuring health care workers who answered the call to send photos.

I loved coming across this on the beach!

Here’s a rare Spirit Bear catching salmon in British Columbia…

I’m grateful to be interconnected with you, Joy
